I discovered a love of anything Turkish, whilst backpacking in that glorious country as a student, the people, food, the chi, handicrafts and costumes and, of course, the music.
I started belly dancing in 1997, shortly after the birth of my second child. I had seen Belyssa and her troupe perform and felt inspired to give it a go. After several years of fun with some great teachers I now enjoy sharing my love of this wonderful art form through performance.
Through my dance I have found some very dear friends as well as my own ‘special’ interest; I think of belly dancing as ‘meditation to music’.
My fondest belly dancing moments........
Dancing on Cable Beach in Broom for a group of traveling friends we had met whilst traveling around Australia in 1999,
and wowing friends and family with the beauty of these girls at my own housewarming, one of Desert Storm’s maiden performances!
